Research

At TCU, you won't be sitting on the sidelines. You can work with your professors on research projects as early as your freshman year. That means you'll quickly gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge research fields, as well as learn how to co-author journal articles and present research at conferences and workshops.

Organizations

SWE (Society of Women Engineers)

The Society of Women Engineers was the first organization dedicated to inspire and motivate women in the advancement of careers in engineering. Through groundbreaking accomplishments, this organization has thrived nation wide for over 55 successful years. What began as group meetings in the 1940’s became a full out organization on May 28, 1950 after the “Rosie the Riveter” stage. At this time, the government encouraged women to leave the home and work in the defense industries to supply for World War II after a large percentage of men left to fight. The positive impact this SWE has placed on women all over the United States has become noticeable and the organization continues to spread to universities in all fifty states.

Texas Christian University’s chapter of SWE began in 1994, after a female student, Margaret Cooke, felt there were not enough women in the engineering department of the university. After completing research on the Society of Women Engineers, she knew this club would be a great fit for the TCU campus.
